Rudolf Martin as Dracula in BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

German actor Rudolf Martin will star as Bela Kiss in a German vampire flick called BELA KISS:PROLUGUE, due to be released on 4 October, which makes the case that Hungarian serial killer Bela Kiss was a vampire. Martin will have a supporting role in the 2013 film VAMPIRES OF HOLLYWOOD, which will star Marilyn Manson and Malcolm McDowell.

Bela Lugosi as Dracula in 1931

Martin played Anton Lang (not a vampire) on ALL MY CHILDREN when that character married Kendall Hart (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar at the time) in 1994. Then, in 2000, Martin was Dracula in Episode #80 of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, and in that same year he was Vlad Dracula the Impaler in the TV movie DARK PRINCE:THE TRUE STORY OF DRACULA.

In 2007 he was Christian Ellis in the premier episode of MOONLIGHT, a short-lived vampire series on CBS.

Like Bela Lugosi, vampire roles account for only a small percentage of his work (Lugosi was in a total of 113 films, including NINOTCHKA. Only 5 of his films involved vampires.), but it seems that Martin might be making a conscious effort at becoming the new Lugosi. I mean, starring in a film with BELA in the title (‘prologue’ might indicate that a series is in the offing) can’t be an accidental choice.

Bridget in the arms of Andrew recovers from having been drowned by Catherine

Buffy lies face down in a pool of water after being temporarily defeated by THE MASTER

In the next-to-last Season One episode of RINGER, Catherine (Andrea Roth) drowns Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar) in the bathtub after first drugging her. Andrew (Ioan Gruffudd) discovers her in time and brings Bridget back from the dead.

In the last episode of Buffy’s first season, Buffy is drowned in an underground pool by The Master (Mark Metcalf). She is brought back to life with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation from Xander (Nick Brendon) because Angel (David Boreanez) “had no breath” (he was a vampire).

This actor was uncredited as Buffy in HAMLET THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (2008)

Obscurus Lupa has found something that somehow I failed to notice. In 2008, one Jason Witter made a film called HAMLET THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, played by an unknown and uncredited person, makes an appearance therein. I would really like to know who this actor is. The HTVS DVD came out two weeks ago, and is available on Amazon for $13.

This film (perhaps thanks to Lupa’s inspired commentary) turns out to be even more weird and wonderful than the upcoming ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, which is due out on 22 June and is directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the guy who made NIGHT WATCH, a Russian film which was, for a while, the most popular Russian film ever, and which includes in the international release archive footage from BTVS.
