German actor Rudolf Martin will star as Bela Kiss in a German vampire flick called BELA KISS:PROLUGUE, due to be released on 4 October, which makes the case that Hungarian serial killer Bela Kiss was a vampire. Martin will have a supporting role in the 2013 film VAMPIRES OF HOLLYWOOD, which will star Marilyn Manson and Malcolm McDowell.
Martin played Anton Lang (not a vampire) on ALL MY CHILDREN when that character married Kendall Hart (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar at the time) in 1994. Then, in 2000, Martin was Dracula in Episode #80 of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, and in that same year he was Vlad Dracula the Impaler in the TV movie DARK PRINCE:THE TRUE STORY OF DRACULA.
In 2007 he was Christian Ellis in the premier episode of MOONLIGHT, a short-lived vampire series on CBS.
Like Bela Lugosi, vampire roles account for only a small percentage of his work (Lugosi was in a total of 113 films, including NINOTCHKA. Only 5 of his films involved vampires.), but it seems that Martin might be making a conscious effort at becoming the new Lugosi. I mean, starring in a film with BELA in the title (‘prologue’ might indicate that a series is in the offing) can’t be an accidental choice.
