Christina Hendricks - a new Wonder Woman? (photo from New York Magazine)

There is yet another Wonder Woman project in the works. Nicholas Refn (LOGAN’S RUN) wants to make a Wonder Woman film and cast Christina Hendricks in the title role. Recently, NBC passed on a Wonder Woman TV pilot starring Adrianne Palicki. (Just saw a tiny clip of that on the web before Warner Brothers had the clip pulled. Palicki’s hair just doesn’t go with the rest of her.) That pilot was directed by Jeffrey Reiner (who did the CAPRICA pilot). So I went back to the 1975 version with Lynda Carter and checked who directed episodes. Turns out all sorts of good folk directed in that series, including Barry Crane, but I couldn’t find one female director.

Adrianne Palicki - her Wonder Woman might yet get picked up by another network. Perhaps as a mid-season replacement.

How would a Wonder Woman film look were it made by the likes of Jane Campion, Nicole Conn, Kathryn Bigelow, or Lisa Cholodenko? We may never know.

Adrianne Palicki on the set of WONDER WOMAN in her newly modified costume and makeup - STS/WENN.com

A while ago I complained a bit about the projected costume for the new Wonder Woman, observing that it looked like something she had picked up at WalMart for Halloween, and that wearing that much lipstick was just not superhero-like.

The Wonder Woman look about which Pixel 51 complained.

They sort of fixed the costume. And the lipstick.

Wonder Woman - Too pouty - Too shiny

The new Wonder Woman, Adrianne Palicki, really needs to reconsider this costume. To begin with, it’s supposed to be red, white, and blue – not red, blue and gold. That’s a bit to capitalistic for my tastes. And it looks like something she might have bought at WalMart for Halloween.

And there is another problem with this picture. She is wearing too much lipstick to be taken seriously as a crimefighter. Makes her look pouty.

As for Palicki, she was great in Elektra Luxx, and she does the voice of Cynthia Rothrock for Robot Chicken, so she wasn’t a bad choice for Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman

NBC has ordered a pilot for David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman project.

Diana Prince will be a corporate executive in present day Los Angeles who moonllights as an independent crime fighter, and tries to find a balance between her dual identities.

Remember that NBC was the network that cancelled Star Trek.
